when i have a hankering for a breakfast out, i always stop here. i can't help but like a joint that serves a vegan breakfast that isn't a tofu scramble-THANK YOU golden west cafe! the servers are always friendly, helpful and quick. there are also tons of tasty vegan options on the lunch/dinner menu too. and don't forget to look up their great dinner specials - burger night and half price wine night. . . whether you're dining for breakfast lunch and dinner or meeting some friends at the bar, it's a thumbs up!

the best way to show baltimore off to your vegetarian and vegan friends: take them to the helmand! the vegetarian selection is out of this world. of course you will have to start with the infamous borawni and then choose from a "daily" menu of seven vegetarian entrees (this menus hasn't changed in years.). vegans will not be able to partake in the borawni and will have to specify that their vegetarian entree be prepared without dairy (most dishes are topped with yogurt sauce). the servers are very knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. this is a special occasion place without the special occasion pricing. i make my pilgrimage about twice a year. enjoy!

there is ALWAYS an incredibly tasty vegetarian or vegan item on the menu. though there is always just one veg option, it's always outstanding. i never know if i want the soup or sandwich, so i always do the cup of soup and half sandwich. i also love their espresso drinks. the service is always quick, even during the lunch rush.
