Went back for the second time last night with four other friends. The place was very busy which is good for them but bad for us because they only had one waiter who was the host, waiter, bartender and busboy. This did not make for excellent service although it was not the waiter's fault. The food was exceptional and I will go back again. There are two other smaller complaints: the doors were wide open and as it was night time, it was getting chillier in the restaurant(we were sitting close to the doors). We asked the waiter to close them but he said he had to ask and we never heard anything else after that. We were uncomfortable for the duration of the meal. Finally, another issue with timing of the food. The waiter said order everything and we will bring it out as soon as it is ready so you can share family style. It was obvious that we ordered a bunch of small plates and entrees for each of us. THe small plates came first which was great but they were followed by one of the two pad thai dishes. and then we waited for the rest. The soups followed and then another entree and then almost 15 minutes after the first pad thai the second one showed up. We did not care for this timing at all. Next time I go, I will make it a point to order the small plates first and then order the entrees or ask them to time the entrees so that all of us get them at the same time.

Cheap groceries that put all the big chains to shame when it comes to prices. Decent fresh vegetables and fruits. Cheap milk, cereal, staples and some really cool German specialties that they carry once a while. Aldi is German company that has opened stores in the US. It drove WalMart out of Germany and hopefully it will do the same in this country.

Tried SALT for the first time this weekend. The food was truly the best I have had in Baltimore in years. From the duck fries which were supperb, to the delicious rock fish served with the crab empanada to the donut holes, everything was outstanding. It is good to know that we have restaurants like SALT in Baltimore. They are approachable and you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to get a great meal. I will be back to this place many many times.
