4 of us went up on a Friday evening with a pair of bottles of win that the wait staff opened and did a good job keeping keeping our glasses topped off. The service was great ... perhaps a bit slow, but the atmosphere, food, and conversation was good enough that we had a good time lingering.
We didn't get any appetizers, so I can't really comment on that, but the entrees were sizable and remarkable. I was a little hesitant at first - New American? What does that even mean? Apparently typical American dishes with fancy stuff on top ... but it worked marvelously. I got the pork chop with blueberry bacon butter, smoked gouda mashed potatoes, and greens. It was the best meal I've had in Baltimore and one of the top 5 I've ever had.
The pork chop was cooked perfectly ... tender and juicy and the blueberry bacon butter added an excellent zip to it. Others at the table got a steak, and one got the soused shrimp and scallops. We were all equally pleased.
Though stuffed, the desserts displayed in the case looked so good I was forced to try and shove one down. I was full beyond belief, but glad I got the dessert. Homemade coconut layer cake with double boiled frosting ... it was remarkable. Hands down better than the majority of prepackaged desserts at most restaurants.
I will be going back for sure. Best in the city for sure.

Iggies has awesome pizza, but aside from the quality, its just a great place to eat. Walk up to the counter and order from a wide variety of original pizzas and then serve yourself ... cleanup included. This actually makes the affair more exciting. It's a great place to gather with friends of have a romantic pizza dinner for two with a bottle of wine.

Just went to the Abbey for the first time and my first visit did not live up to the hype. For a Friday in Fed Hill, when it should be expected that everything will be busy ... the plays was horribly understaffed and disorganized. When we got there, all the tables were filled, but there wasn't a single group on the wait list in front of us.
When the first table to leave after our arrival was gone, the table set dirty for 15 minutes. After it was cleaned, it was easily another 10 minutes before someone came to seat us. There were 4 people serving a restaurant of probably 20 tables and two bars. Two of these people were bartenders doing double duty by waiting tables.
After we were seated, the bartender was our server. He (Mike) was awesome. Considering his work load, he was attentive and friendly. We ordered some beers and the Waffle fry nachos. They were hands down one of the best things I've ever eaten. I went brave and got the PB burger and my fiancee got the Turkey Burger. Both of the burgers were quite good, but the only way to know was by removing more than half the bun. It felt like being at McDonalds with a burger that couldn't be seen without peeling back the bun. After we were done, the collective bread we had left over could have housed another burger all together.
I know that sounds like a lot of complaining, but this place has been hyped to no end, so my expectations were pretty high. However, if the buns were 50% smaller (the burger was def. big enough) and if the place was properly staffed, I'd give it 5 stars.
