Notes for Corey:
Log in or sign up to post a noteThanks for reminding me about Morning Edition and that fresh banana bread!
» See Corey's review of Morning Edition CafeI hear you on Safeway. For an equally frustrating (albeit much cheaper) grocery experience, try the Markets at Highlandtown. It can be frustrating b/c of the crowds, but the prices are great and they have a great selection of foreign foods and great produce. Not the social scene that Safeway is, though.
After reading the full menu page explaining why Baltimore Pho is in SoWeBo, I don't think they are moving anywhere :-)
Your love-hate relationship with Safeway is hilarious, and one that every Canton resident can probably relate to.

ME is my fave breakfast place in Baltimore. While places like Blue Moon and Spoons are good, the location of ME a bit above the park and out of the way keeps the crowds down. As I said before, you do want to leave yourself plenty of time when coming here. ME advertises itself as a "Vermont Style" cafe. I don't know what this is supposed to mean, but after going there many'a'times I think it means slow service and super kitschy decor. I guess I take the slower service in stride, because at least I'm not waiting the 30-45 minute wait that I'd be doing at Blue Moon.
The real all star here is the food. I highly recommend any of their french toasts or studded pancakes. How can you not like chunks of meat in your carbs?!?! Most of the special toasts/pancakes come topped with fresh fruit, which is always of very good quality. I'm always impressed with ME's fresh foods. They also have a large selection of omelets, though I'm always going for the carby goodness so I can't comment on them. They look tasty enough though. Also, one huge bonus here is that you get fresh banana bread before your meal (for free!) and on each breakfast plate you also get a tootsie pop. How can you not love this place...

Canton Dog Park
Neighborhood: Canton Category: ParksWithout having a real yard in Bawlmer, It's nice to have a dog park that you can let Fido run free at. Canton dog park is a good off leash park with two sides: one for large dogs, and one for small/older dogs.
I'll be there a lot socializing the dog, taking in the fresh smell of dog poop.Report Abuse: Confirmation

Di Pasquale's
Neighborhood: Highlandtown Category: Delis,Italian,PizzaI had heard of Di Pasquale's, but figured an Italian joint in Highlandtown (not in Little Italy) couldn't be that good. I was wrong. I've only been there once and can't wait to go back again. I ended up getting the full size meatball sub. It was less a sub, and more a bread cave filled with meat. It has since been dubbed the meat cave. I'm not normally a fan a meatballs as they're usually bland hunk'o'meat, and the sauce usually served in a sub is a boring marinara from a can. These meatballs had a great flavor and the sauce was to die for. I know I should try something else when I go back, but I'm not sure I can make myself do it.
The other folks in the party got some sandwich with pastrami and cole slaw on it. I can't remember the name of it, but they raved about it for the rest of the weekend.
As an aside, they also have Absinthe. I thought it was illeagal, but apparently not anymore. I can't wait to try it...
