Knowledgeable staff that remember your name and preferences on products etc.. The organic meats, cheeses and produce actually beat the prices at Safeway more often than not. No reason to shop anywhere else in the city.

Solid, capable location of the organic grocer overlords. Generally less inspiring than the Mt. Washington location, if only because of space. Still, easily the best butcher, seafood counter, cheese, and produce selections in the city, hands down. Deli is knowledgeable, attentive, and fresh. Bakery is not as robust as Mt. Washington, or some of the boutique bakeries in the city, but still well-stocked. Could use a bigger, better bulk selection. Central location is good, though parking can be a pain at times. Avoid the after-work rush, if you can.

This is probably the best grocery store in the city, though the Whole Foods in Mt. Washington is great too. They have a great selection of bulk foods here, the prepared food is delicious and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. It's also a great place for fresh flowers and plants. If you've never shopped Whole Foods, you may be surprised by the prices which are significantly higher than "conventional" grocery stores. Personally, I prefer not to eat neurotoxins, so I pay the premium for organic produce.
