Great burgers, HORRIBLE bartenders. Complete A-holes. Be prepared to wait for a drink for like 10 minutes, while the bartenders are Chatty McChatterson with some regulars. I mean come on! At least acknowledge. I once went in with a party of 10 and they ignored ALL of us. No sir.

Modular menu options can be a little daunting at first, but the recommended house specialties make decisions easier. House-made chips are on par with the best in town. Ingredients speak to attention to freshness. Draft selections are well-curated, service was competent, even if the hostess was a little dotty. The upmarket pub scene is surprisingly cozy, familiar and intimate. Crowd is a relaxed oasis from the usual Fed Hill frattery.

Ok, I gave this place four stars because when they are on, they are the best burgers in town. They have a nice broad selection of beers as well. The first half-dozen times I went here, I loudly sang the praises of this place to anyone that would listen. The last few times I have been to ABB, the service has gone from lackadaisical to terrible.

The menu is very small but as far as apps go, they have great wings (the soy/sesame wings are crazy good) and surprisingly awesome waffle fry nachos. The burger options are great. The beef tastes like beef and the meats and toppings seem fresh. I love the build-a-burger option. I usually opt for the beef (med-rare) with foi gras ($10 upcharge), truffle oil (75cents upcharge) and pickle slices (free).

Like I said, when this place is on, they can pull off an nearly perfect burger but the last three times I went, I realized the honeymoon was over.

On my last visit, on a quiet Thursday evening, myself and two friends headed to Fed Hill for some dinner. Despite recent bad service, we gave ABB another shot. This time it took four attempts to get one of my dining companions' orders correct. (It took two attempts to get mine correct.)

Our server/surly bartender gave my dining companion a bit of an attitude about the whole ordeal but comped a round of drinks, the aforementioned wings, and my friend's burger.

I still have high hopes for this place and hopefully they work out the kinks, quickly!

Just went to the Abbey for the first time and my first visit did not live up to the hype. For a Friday in Fed Hill, when it should be expected that everything will be busy ... the plays was horribly understaffed and disorganized. When we got there, all the tables were filled, but there wasn't a single group on the wait list in front of us.

When the first table to leave after our arrival was gone, the table set dirty for 15 minutes. After it was cleaned, it was easily another 10 minutes before someone came to seat us. There were 4 people serving a restaurant of probably 20 tables and two bars. Two of these people were bartenders doing double duty by waiting tables.

After we were seated, the bartender was our server. He (Mike) was awesome. Considering his work load, he was attentive and friendly. We ordered some beers and the Waffle fry nachos. They were hands down one of the best things I've ever eaten. I went brave and got the PB burger and my fiancee got the Turkey Burger. Both of the burgers were quite good, but the only way to know was by removing more than half the bun. It felt like being at McDonalds with a burger that couldn't be seen without peeling back the bun. After we were done, the collective bread we had left over could have housed another burger all together.

I know that sounds like a lot of complaining, but this place has been hyped to no end, so my expectations were pretty high. However, if the buns were 50% smaller (the burger was def. big enough) and if the place was properly staffed, I'd give it 5 stars.

The buns are pretty badass. My only complaint is that they could use a few more unusual condiments. I was looking for something sweet to put on my bison goat cheese burger and I couldn't really find anything that hit the spot.

Chicken burger, avocado, manchego cheese, bib lettuce, herb yogurt, bun. Amazing. Angus beef burger, peanut butter, bacon, bun (PBBB). Unusual, sticky and satisfying. Lamb burger, truffle oil, herb yogurt, pita. Delicious. I could go on and on...I've tried a lot of combos (there are thousands of possibilities) and they all deliver. Standouts include the bison (medium rare) and the chicken burger. If you're feeling risque, try the peanut butter burger. You can build your own burger (pick meat, cheese, toppings) for around $9-$10 or order up a specialty one for $9. Burgers come with house chips...substitute sweet potato fries for 2 bucks (very good). Other items to check out are the waffle fry nachos and spiked milkshakes. Abbey Burger is a perfectly executed concept where you can discover a new burger bliss with every visit.

Missing toppings is ok since you can ask for them, but incorrect toppings is not. My boyfriend ordered blue cheese and I ordered american. The cheeses were flip-flopped which made my burger uneatable since I don't like blue cheese.
