As with all tapas joints, if you're doing the large plates, you're missing the point. Sidewalk seating is some of the most entertaining in Baltimore, perfect for a lingering, lazy weekend afternoon with a pitcher of sangria or a selection from the well-curated wine list. Albondigas are tender and surprisingly light; croquettes have a masterful balance of crunch and gooey center. Rest of menu is spot-on for flavors and portions. Space can get cramped, but never claustrophobic during certain rushes -- was there for Film Fest, and as packed as the place has ever seemed, there still managed to be room to at least breathe. Don't forget the ability to bring a cocktail or wine into the Charles. Service pace is among the most efficient in the city; can feel rushed for the uninitiated; perfect if trying to catch a flick next door at the Charles. Has steadily increased this pace over the years; so expect it to somehow get even faster.

Wonderful food, exceptionally well prepared, and quite a variety at a good price (though not exactly cheap). I have never been disappointed in the food. I do wish they would take reservations. It is always crowded, too crowded. Good luck finding a seat at the bar while waiting for a table. Though many of the staff are quite nice, I have also experienced a rather snippy bartender. The last time we went at 6PM we waited so long that we rushed our dinner and STILL missed the opening scene at Everyman Theater.

Always a real scene. Food is great and worth waiting for. And don't forget to try the really yummy desserts. The best time to get a table is when they open. Otherwise, just enjoy a great movie at the Charles; get a drink and wait for a table in the lobby of the Charles. You'll see lots of people you know. It's...

It's a very hip place but not at all snobby.

With its classy variety of tasty, tiny dishes -- at very reasonable
prices -- and its ideal location next door to the Charles art-house
movie theater, Tapas Teatro is the perfect place to start off a
dinner-and-a-movie night or to stop off and chat over a bite about
what you've just seen.
The plentiful paella--tossed with a generous helping of seafood and
sausage--will satisfy even the biggest appetites.
The bar highlight is the authentic sangria, but also offers a wide
range of wines, beers, port and sherries.
We had a blast!!! It was 5 of us and the bill came to about $80 and
then with tip we each payed $20. The sangria was the best I have
ever had (besides my own). We did have to wai about 30 minutes but
sat in the lobby of the theater and enjoyed the scene. The hubby
and I can't wait to go back and hit a movie. We park in the lot
next to the garge across the street and it was just 2 bucks.
However we where there for almost 2 1/2 hours enjoying ourselves so
be ready to stay and relax and have fun!!
