Review for: Talara
Jobert B. says:
A much needed breath of Latin fusion air into the city. Seviches were impeccably prepared, fish was exquisitely sashimi-grade, though hit-or-miss in concept. The Southwest-inflected corn and avocado was masterful; the Peruvian tiradito, less so. Rest of menu was well-executed, from the delicate croquetas to the generous, hearty and satisfying mini-paella. Drinks were capable. Service was bubbly, friendly, fast, and attentive, if a little dotty. Crowd is predictably Harbor East yuppie. Overly busy, colorful space confuses vibrancy with visual loudness. Hanging canvas dividers added interesting depth to the space, but the predictable Latin streetscapes brought it well over the line of Disney chintziness. As if you'd somehow missed the Latin theme elsewhere.
A great deal of promise given a few words of advice. Decor: edit, edit, and then edit some more. A few of the ceviche preparations were oddly lacking in flavor, look into that.

They've been fairly active on the Twitter, which makes me want to like them. I'll have to give them a shot some afternoon.
