If there's a big epic movie hitting theaters then the one and only place you should want to see it is at The Senator. If it's playing there - make an appointment to go see it ASAP. Batman, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Spiderman, Lord of the Rings... all the great movie spectacles should be seen on the big screen at Baltimore's cinematic mecca.
Only downside is that they only accept cash here - so make sure to hit the ATM first. But once you're inside this art deco masterpiece, you'll know it was worth it. Who needs stadium seating, crab pretzels and a lobby bar? (although the Landmark is great too)
Make a night of it by stopping by Belvedere Square or any of the other surrounding restaurants and shops. A better time can't be had...

This place is a Baltimore institution. And even though it has a single, wonderful, enormous screen , fantastic sound equipment, and and brilliant architecture of the sort not often found in modern theaters, that is only a small part of what makes it special. No, the best part is when you go to see a film on it's opening weekend and the owner gets up in front of the screen to personally introduce the film and asks us all to be "The Senator's ambassador to the community." Then he kindly asks everyone to please shut off their cell phones. This personal touch charms the hell out me and makes me happy I live in Baltimore.
