Good service, nice outdoor seating!! We ordered Patron margaritas. They were $10 as they should have been................but, I didn't taste much tequila. I watched next time it was made(I was outside, looking in) and there was a big flourish of triple sec and lime being put in the mix...then bartender hovered over the mixing glass behind the bar to add the tequila? The second round of Cuervo margaritas were no stronger. I, personally, cannot handle more than one margarita. These margaritas sobered me up!! Just saying...............if you're drinking mixed drinks..sit at the bar and watch!

The staff at this place is outstanding. Excellent service, very good food, and a cool atomosphere. Ask Jay to make you a bloody mary, seriously, the best.

This place is not getting the credit it deserves. My husband and I were in town and went both Friday and Saturday night. It was so fun. The martini's were fabulous( I recommend the mango, melon martini so good!) the food is really good too, I thought the crabs were awesome! The entertainment was also terrific, loved the music. So fun, can't wait to go back.

Went here this past Saturday night with a group of friends and had a great time! Roger Ripple and crew are doing a great job! The atmosphere was wonderful (we sat in the "alley" breezeway) and very comfortable. My drink is the Malibu Bay Breeze and I try it everywhere I go - this by far was the best one I'd ever had! The Crab Dip was delicious, however a more generous portion would've been nice. There was enough for 1 or 2 people, but that was it. The Scallops in rum and pineapple were absolutely delicious! I'm still craving them and determined to figure out how to make them at home! The Crab Bisque wasn't the best or worst that I've ever had. It definitely could've used more crab meat and for such a big bowl, oyster crackers or some kind of saltines would've been nice. The Margaritas were made tableside and my husband fell in love w/ them. Overall this is a great place for a night out and we will definitely be back!

If you want seafood and a friendly management and wait staff do not go to Riptide By the Bay. Seafood and atmosphere is what it lacks. The crabs were light and it lacks the Maryland style preparation, manager/owner whomever she claims to be did nothing about our complaint. Would never go back or recommend this "seafood" resturant. Its more for the one time stoppers not the loyal customer.

Riptide is a pleasant place with very pleasant staff. But, it has a long way to go as a seafood house. Crabs are very small and light for the price. I think that they will only get the one time tourist trade strolling down Thames Street. If you are from Baltimore, you will definitely not be satisfied with the current offerings. We saw several other diner's orders go by for crabs and steamed shrimp and to say that we were less than impressed is an understatement. I wish them luck in improving the fare.

Passable recreation of an oldschool Baltimore crab house. Seafood was capably prepared; service was distracted on an empty night. Will have to reassess during crab season.

Went to Riptide this past Wed to take advantage of their $2 crabs. They were excellent - if you want legitimate MD crabs this is the place to go!

Applesmoked bacon on crab cakes. What a great combo! Very tasty bawlmer staple with little to no filler. Riptide is obviously pushing steamed crabs and that's what most people were eating. In fact, the waiter informed us they were running a special tonight -- $1 crabs. Us: "Wow, is that an ongoing special?" Waiter: "No, we just have some crabs from yesterday we want to get rid of." Umm, I think I'll pass.

Overall, I'd say that riptide's prices are a bit high. Crab cake sandwich? $14.95. Most entrees were in the mid to upper $20s. Guess that's why everyone was eating crabs. They do have a nice little covered outdoor alley with seating. Might return...but probably only if I've exhausted a bunch of other options. But go once for that crab cake.
