Review for: Parkside Power Yoga
Parkside Power Yoga is a donation-based yoga studio, located right on Patterson Park south. It's truly a hidden gem, staffed by sincerely generous and caring people. The refreshing lack of membership contracts *occasionally* backfires when I let myself miss my weekly practice... but when I do make it to a class, I come out questioning how I ever allowed myself to get "too busy." The hour and a half spent at this small studio always recharges me mentally, and physically.
I've had the pleasure of attending classes taught by all three of Parkside's instructors. Michael, the founder, leads you through a challenging, strengthening workout that will get you fit, and sharpen your concentration. Lauren (Tuesday evenings) will inspire you to relax and de-stress through a steady build-up of strong poses, stretches, and balances. Katie (Thursday evenings) moves through a fun, fast-paced series of sun salutations that will train your body to move and breathe, practically without thinking.
Not only do these people get you sweating (yes, yoga is a workout!), but they also inspire you to just downright live life a little better. With some positive outlook and self-affirmation mixed into a few rounds of downward-dog, even the most toughened cynic can enjoy a taste of zen at Parkside.
