Exceedingly expensive. Kitchen turnover creates inconsistent food quality. Service is slow. Sometimes this place is right on but most of the time it is not. One thing is consistent -- it's very expensive!

All definitely southern but with creative a twist. Ohhhh and I almost forgot chicken and waffles! YUMMY!

The place is cozy and warm and the waitstaff is always attentive and friendly. If you live in Baltimore or are visiting you have to try Miss Shirley's.

TOO MANY DANG PEOPLE! The food is froo-froo but good. Way too expensive and way toooooo many people. You can easily wait an hour for a seat on the weekends. I actually stopped going.

This place is for baby boomers from the county who like overly rich, novelty breakfasts.

So overrated I can barely stand it. And the food is waaaay too expensive for what it is. This place is bullshit.

I wish it wasn't so expensive, but it's worth it on occasion... The Shirley Fellar is definitely my favorite, but you can't go wrong with the chicken and waffles.

Excellent food, but we found it a bit pricey (~$50 for two at Brunch, without any alcohol involved).

However, good food is worth paying for and we were definitely not disappointed. I have yet to check out the down town location, but the Roland Park one is very nice inside. The service was a bit slow, but not terrible

The breakfasts I've had have been very good, though not usually as creative as Blue Moon or Morning Addition. The best thing I've had there is Dutch Apple pancake. I am not sure if that is the right name, but it's something like that... When it came out it was the size of a coffee cake and it took 3 meals to eat. Other patrons looked at me like I was a pig, but I was in bliss with my gargantuan pancake in front of me.

Now I have only been to Miss Shirleys twice (and both times for Breakfast) but I plan on eating here a lot more often in the future. The food is wonderful, the décor is quaint and the staff is attentive.

There are a few things that I don’t particularly like, but I will live with them. You can’t make a reservation ...which I find silly... since half of Baltimore seems to eat there in the morning. The perk to the wait is that you can sit outside at waiting tables and people watch. Another thing I found odd, was if your whole party is not there right in front of the hostess, they won’t put your name in for a wait. This is frustrating when you have a large party, and half of them are trying to find a parking spot. Once you get past the waiting part and are seated, it’s quite an enjoyable experience.

I encourage everyone to try the fried green tomatoes. They are excellent and my husband always insist on getting them and sweet potato fries to start the morning. I’ve grown fond of the Breakfast Banana Split, which is a very large amount of fruit I might add. Two children could easily split this, and be delighted to have a “Banana Split” for breakfast. Now all the pancakes are amazing, I personally think they don’t need any butter or syrup at all. They are light, fluffy and have a buttery taste already to them. A friend who was dining with us said “Shirley’s Affair with Oscar” was mouthwatering, but quite a lot to eat. The applewood smoked bacon was cooked crispy and was thick and flavorful.

They also have the option to create your own omelets. The list of options list is rather extensive and should be able to suffice even the pickiest of omelet eaters. The Potato Hash is fresh made, and filling. Split it between two people, you will thank me later. And later means, when you have room for those cinnamon rolls. A feast for the eyes and the stomach.

It appears that they attempt to make everything in house and fresh made to order. Because of this your wait just might be a bit longer than your typical breakfast place. But the coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice and conversation will keep you pre-occupied.

All the portions are large, so if you don’t eat a lot of breakfast, plan on splitting something. The staff is informative, and seems to be on the ball with most tables, with the help of “secret-service-ear-buds” for communication. Its great to see members of the Dopkins family (the owners) also walking around... checking on Miss Shirley's patrons. I love the decor and colors of the walls, along with the Baltimore Pictures and Art. I highly recommend this place to anyone that loves break-fast with a twist.
