Great healthy food for cheap reasonable prices! And you bring your own booze! What's not to like? I'll answer my own question: sometimes it is hard to get a table.

Smart, capable. solid Vietnamese. Grilled shrimp summer rolls were succulent and fragrant. Entrees were very generously sized; downright Cheesecake Factory scale. Flavors were all spot-on. Unafraid of spiciness, if you just ask. BYOB policy isn't too much of a problem, with nearby stores. Space was small, but...

Unafraid of spiciness, if you just ask. BYOB policy isn't too much of a problem, with nearby stores. Space was small, but never claustrophobic, even when busy. Service was cordial, polite and attentive, though a little slow and uneven around the edges.

It is small, offering limited tables, cash only. Think carry-out but do call ahead food prep does take a bit of time and they have become a very popular place. When I was there on a Friday night they had two people in the kitchen and it looked as if the rolls were be made to order. They offer a good selection of vegetarian dishes.
No Bahn Mi but when asked they said they were thinking about it. The big question is would I go back, the answer is yes.

For good ethnic Vietnamese, this is a great affordable place right in the city. While you may have to wait, and they could have run out of something or other, it is still a great place with fresh food at a great price. While you may have to wait, and they could have run out of something or other, it is still a great place with fresh food at a great price. A real family run restaurant, with the husband waiting tables and the wife in the kitchen and even little kids running through from time to time.

The service is not particularly fast here, but it is the best Vietnamese food I have had in the United States. They seem a little bit slow because they are always jam packed with people and are trying to figure out how to deal with their new popularity. This is super casual, great food and BYOB.

After reading the Tom's review on 600 block, and the Sun's review I had to give it a try. I'm a pho junky, so am always excited to see a Viet place open up in the city.
We went on Saturday night. It was pretty busy, and based on Tom's review we knew we were in for a wait. All said and done, the meal took about and hour and forty five minutes. Considering we only got summer rolls, and pho, I don't know how it took this long. Both are super quick dishes.
We got the grilled shrimp summer rolls. I was expecting a lot from these, and I wasn't disappointed. The shrimp was extremely fresh, and was nice and crunchy. Dipped in the peanut sauce the rolls were absolutly delish. Their pho is also excellent. The broth is extremely hearty, though I was a bit curious about them serving pho with cilantro instead of basil. I'd prefer basil. The girlfriend got the chicken pho, and while she loved the broth she wasn't impressed with the chicken - i was just bland. Also, the chicken pho was served with Beef broth. It was tasty, but a bit odd...
Keep in mind that they only accept cash. Also, they are BYOB. I walked one block east on Saratoga and to a liquor store and picked up some beer and wine. Since the meal will probably take a while, I'd highly recommend doing the same.

New downtown Vietnamese spot misses overall, but has potential. Went for lunch on Saturday and was informed that the chicken, pork and beef was unavailable as it wasn't done marinating. Um, ok, but that meant that the majority of the menu was unavailable. Opted for a grilled shrimp dish with vermicelli and the summer spring rolls.
As I waited (and waited) many diners came in and promptly left after being told of the MIA meats. I have no idea why the food took so long, but our lunch ended up weighing in at over 1.5 hours of frustrating idling. With only a few tables to serve and no explanation or apology, I sat and waited, occassionally glaring back at the kitchen. Minutes turned into nearly an hour before something edible arrived. First the spring rolls (generous shrimp but dry pork), then my grilled shrimp dish (nicely charred, huge shrimp, good flavor). To add insult to injury, my gf's dish arrived 15 minutes after mine, after I was finished eating.
The food overall was good, but nothing mind-blowing. I'd say it's slightly overpriced ($8.70 for my grilled shrimp dish). Don't expect amazing bargain prices here. Sure Mekong Delta is new, but they managed to make a majorly poor first impression. These days, that's a mistake that's almost unforgivable.
