NO! NO! NO! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! My wife and I had one of the worst meals of our lives at MLB. We were seated in the claustrophobic back room which has no windows or decorations on the dreary brick walls. I should have known that this would be a terrible experience when the couple seated next to us left and declared "That was disgusting!" The coffee was stale and burnt. The orange juice was warm and tasted as if it could be store bought. There were pieces of burnt plastic in the french onion soup and almost no crab meat in the crab soup. To top it all off, the service was slow and when these deficiencies were brought to her attention, the manager was unappologetic and rude. My wife and I have never left a restaurant without finishing our food until we went to MLB. We will NEVER go back and have begun to warn all of our friends about this debacle. If I could give MLB negative stars I would. TERRIBLE!!!

First, Marie Louise offers French, Italian and Mediterranean dishes. No, they're not offering anything terribly out of the ordinary, but the menu does include pommes frites, bouillabaisse and caprese salad. So there you go. I haven't been to brunch yet, but I've heard good things. What I have had, though, is very good (the French onion soup is awesome, as is the roasted/grilled vegetable appetizer), and there is a nice, affordable wine selection, but I was somewhat underwhelmed by the desserts. They look awesome, but I didn't think the taste lived up to the impressive appearance. Overall, good place to eat, and the atmosphere is beautiful.

Enlivened space offers airy and spacious, as well as dark and cozy. Wifi makes them contender against City Cafe for Mt. Vernon laptop supremacy.

I've only ever had coffee and pastries here, but both were excellent. I devoured the enormous almond croissant in only a few minutes, it was that tasty. Buttery, flaky, with good almond flavor and not too sweet. The coffee was good too, and it looks like they sell their house blend by the pound in the store too....

I found the place to be much more pleasant for a leisurely coffee than City Cafe. Outdoor seating in Mt Vernon is hard to find, so its great that MLB have put some chairs out front too.

The jury is still out on Marie Louise for me. I've had carry-out lunch from there twice. The bistro-burger both times, which was very tasty topped with caramlized onions and bleu cheese on a nice crusty roll. It came with a side of garlicy fries which also hit the spot perfectly.

The service however is a little lax. The number on their menu is incorrect takes you to their catering line. The guy who took my order on the phone seemed very unsure of himself and had me worried that I'd even get the right food. When I arrived to pick it up, there wasn't a pen for me to sign my receipt, so it took him 2 minutes to run off and find one. Not a huge deal, but not very professional either.

But all that being said, the food is tasty and the interior of this restored building looks lovely. I'm leaning heavily towards endorsing Marie Louise as a welcome addition to the Mt. Vernon dining scene.
