Revisit: Exquisite space. Prime location. Food was passable, if a bit staid. Kebabs were dry; hummus, babaganoush and falafels were garlicky and spot-on. Spicy hummus has a particular kick. An excellent Harbor East option for vegetarians. Cocktails were lovely; the bar is an untapped treasure.

If you haven't had Lebanese food before, which I hadn't, it is a good mix of Middle East and Mediteranean. We usually start with hummus. Their hummus is excellent, and the real treat is the warm bread they serve it with. Normally they just give you white bread, but I suggest asking for wheat bread.
For the main courses we ordered Chicken Shawarma and the Farrouj Meshwi. The Shawarma is a rottiserie chicken with a garlic puree. It has been a little dry for my liking, but overall the flavor is still excellent. I still order it every time. The Farrouj meshwi was cookedy better, but also had excellent flavor. Next time I think I'll delve into lamb, which I usually only order at places that I trust. Lamb can be really good, or really bad, depending on how it is cooked. I think I'm about ready to give it a shot at Lebanese Taverna. :-)

The Lebanese Taverna is a very aesthetically pleasing environment in which to dine. Beautiful tiles, lanterns, high ceilings, massive mirrors, and dark wood give it a sophisticated and international feel. We went for restaurant week, so we had a limited menu. I enjoyed the complimentary pita bread even though it was white and not wheat. The wait staff were really friendly. I had the shrimp for an appetizer; the flavor was great- really minty and lemony, but it was kind of rubbery. My entree was chicken with chickpeas and warm yogurt sauce. I thought it was OK, but the yogurt overwhelmed the other flavors and textures. The chocolate ice cream I had was delicious and I don't even love chocolate ice cream. All in all, I'd say it's worth the trip, especially if you have access to their more extensive menu :).

This is my very favorite place to go for lunch. The house salad, hommus and pita is a delicious and healthy lunch, not to mention a great deal.

The Baltimore version has a much sleeker modern look in the new Harbor East development, and the food is every bit as good. I recommend sticking to the Mezza (appetizers) and treating it almost like a Tapas place. Try anything with eggplant. The hummus is divine. Lebanese Cuisine is short on representation in a lot of places, but Lebanese Taverna is one of the best examples of Lebanese Cuisine anywhere.
One other note: the service in the Baltimore location on the night we went was positively ebullient-- very nice hosts. Clearly this is a well-run business.

I went to Labanese Taverna for a holiday office party. It had a great environment and the service was also very good. The food was unique, and some menu items were not really my style, but I still had a great time sampling. Would definitely recommend.
