Review for: Kali's Mezze
Corey P. says:
Mezze is one of the restaurants in Baltimore that I get excited to go to. The food here is tapas, but Greek instead of the standard Spanish fare. I prefer the Greek.
The dishes run from around $5-12 a piece. The portion sizes are substantial - 3 dishes apiece should PLENTY of food. At Pazo 3 was barely enough and yet the prices were the same.
The quality of food is great. I really like their hummus. It's a very smooth hummus, without any grittiness. The crabcakes, souvlaki, and especially the pastitsio are excellent. The GF also likes the spinach fritters (I don't like spinach, so my judgment on this dish is biased.
If you are taking people who have never been to Baltimore out in the city, Mezze is a great place to go. Tapas make the meal more communal and social and the quality of food is exceptional. While I think Samos has superior Greek food, the atmosphere at Mezze is much better and again it's a great place to go with a group. And it's in Fells, so an after dinner cocktail is always a good idea...
