Probably my favorite place to grab a drink!! Great, and knowledge staff!

Helen’s Garden is one of my favorite restaurants in Baltimore. I’m not sure where to start on what appeals to me the most. It could be their half price glasses of wine at the bar from 5pm to 8pm, which is the longest Happy Hour in Baltimore. It could be that the staff is always very friendly and helpful with wine and food selections. Don’t love wine? They have some great beer selections also. Brunch is amazing and comes out quicker than you can finish a cup of coffee. The food is priced well, good portions, and some really tasty specials that are easy to understand when reading them on the menu. The atmosphere is quaint and stylish with art work always on the walls and exposed brick backing it up. When ever I have a guest in town and I want to take them somewhere not too stuffy and introduce them to some good food, Helen’s Garden is always where I turn.

In my opinion, Helen's is the most underrated place in Canton. Further, I'd say it has the best burger in the city! I am constantly impressed with the quality of food at Helen's - here is a run down of a few of my faves.

The pork chops. I'm not normally a fan of pork chops, as my memories of them are dry and rubbery food that lacks any flavor. This was my opinion before getting Helen's chops. They are incredible. The Wednesday special usually has a creative pork chop special, like serving it with a chutney, but their show stopper is the pork chops au poivre. The pepper and brown sugar are the perfect compliment to the pork.

The burger. Speaking of au poivre, Helen's burger au poivre is to die for. While I normally wouldn't think of coming to a more upscale restaurant for a burger, it's worth it to come here. The bread used for the burger is a great match, and even their fries are done perfectly.

The salads. The special salads are usually good, but I really love their beef salad. While most people order grilled chicken on a salad, Helen's steak salad has the meat complementing the greens nicely. The girlfriend usually swoons over this choice.

Other good choices are the pecan crusted fish, and chicken kabob. I tried the curry salmon once, but found curry and salmon together just didn't work. Also, I went there for breakfast one Sunday and was underwhelmed. I had eggs and salsa in a tortilla that was forgettable.

Tips:
Wednesday night $12 entree special is the best in the city. While $12 may not seem spectacular, the quality of food they have available for $12 is incredible. This is usually the only night I'll be there since I'm cheap. :-)
