The place was PACKED on a Friday nite. But the bartender found us a table and not only did we get seated in the mad house, the bartender kept coming back. Mostly I've found if you get seated in this sort of chaos, you get forgotten, and never see a server again... but not at the Hamilton.
I'll agree with everyone else... the beers - a fine assortment. Ambiance - lovely, comfortable, warm and social, albeit loud. Menu - short and sweet.
We had the daily special chips and dip. It was some mushroom and feta mix (I couldn't hear the server really well), served with a french loaf slices. Outstanding. Simply outstanding. And at $5, probably one of the better purchases I made all Christmas season.
Then we had burgers. Again, simply outstanding. I'm a bit of a burger (beef) snob, and this was one of the best burgers I've had in the city. Funny thing? We sorta confused the server and my burger didn't come exactly how I like it, but once I bit into it and savored the flavor, it didn't matter. It still was one of the best burgers I've had in the city. Burger = $9. a bit on the high side for me, but the quality more than made up for it. And I loved, loved, loved the chips served with the burger. I ate everyone at the table's left overs. Ok... that's not really a sign of being a lady... but I think it's a sign of how good the chips were.
Yea! for the Hamilton Tavern!

Great find and nice atmosphere. I agree with many reviewers, it was kindof loud. Beautifully decorated, good food/fresh and delicious, and good prices. We had the burger/great; onion rings/great; dinner salad/yum; soup/a little salty/and the only disappointment/and easily get overable given how great everything...

The best place I have been to in the neighborhood.

What a cool bar! Located across the street from Clementine, Hamilton Tavern is a casual neighborhood bar with a great beer and wine list. If you want a ton of choices, this isn't the place for you. They keep it short and sweet with interesting drafts and the always popular Brewer's Art brews -- Resurrection and Ozzy. When I was there, it seemed like most people were nursing a Resurrection.
And the food? Mostly sandwiches and appetizers with a couple more substantial dinner specials that rotate nightly. Sampled the house chips and apple cake, but need to go back to try a sandwich. I would classify it as upsacle pub food. Prices are very reasonable overall.
Perhaps the best part about Hamilton Tavern is its personality. Custom wood table tops lined with unusual beer bottle caps. Lacquered pages from old books on the bathroom walls. An antique-looking beer refrigerator on wheels. I heard that the owners hail from Brewer's Art. That would explain the beer and the personality. Very cool indeed.

They have a great wine list, and best of all, they serve Brewer's Art beers. This place is a dream for anyone who likes comfort food and quality drinks without crazy prices or a downtown crowd.

Hamilton Tavern- This place just opened up, so we will see how it does in the long run. When you walk in, you get a very nostalgic feel. You can tell a lot of money has gone in to the remodeling of this Tavern, and it looks beautiful. The staff is more than expected nice, and the bartenders, take the time to learn...

Now what I’m told is the chef/owner wants to serve as many things, fresh and in season and local.
My husband and I had an amazing sliced tomato and fresh corn dish. He than ordered the burger, and opted to put a fried egg on it. Now I'm told this is a mid-west thing, and it gives it a nice twist on it. I had the steamed shrimp served with corn on the cob sprinkled with parmesan. And it’s a good thing I only got half a pound. The shrimp tasted wonderful, and were so big, I had to get my husband to eat the last one. The liquor selection is nice and not limited. The specialty is they have Brewer's Art on tap, plus a few other great under-the-radar beers.
As far as I know, Hamilton is only open for dinner. The wonderful thing they have about the bar, that I personally like is NO TV’S! It gives it a wonderful feel of socialization, instead of the typical sports bar, where everyone is a Zombie, and just stares at this screen all night. My husband was first taken aback, but after about an hour, he admitted himself it was a nice change, and gave the place more atmosphere.
