Update: I'd like to further support Grano and say that they have incredible desserts. Tonight we returned for our third time in three weeks and got dessert for the first time. We got a special dessert called a turtle pyramid that was a chocolate pyramid with pecan underneath and a few orders of cannolis between the three of us. Best.Cannoli.Ever.
Great food, great prices, great service. Grano is an excellent, tiny, little, small pasta place in Hampden with a simple idea. Pick your pasta, pick your sauce, decide whether or not you want a meatball on it, and enjoy. The meatballs are incredible and huge ... just $2 for each on top of your pasta or on the side. They've got excellent hearty bread and salads to be enjoyed beforehand. It is BYOB, so head up to the Wine Source a few blocks over and pick a great wine to pair with their delicious pasta.

Grano is a fabulously simple idea: Here is a list of Pastas, There is a list of sauces. Pick a pasta, pick a sauce, add a simple appetizer or salad. Even the physical layout is as simple as can be-- a small restaurant with a little "pasta bar" and few tables. This is the BEST kind of food; stripped down and it...

The night we went the available dessert was made by the owner's mother. When I asked if they served spumoni, I got a hilariously terse lecture on how spumoni wasn't actually Italian.
This is a great place to have lunch and terrific for a take-out dinner. It is BYOB and it's a great idea to go armed with a bottle of wine. A date here almost feels like the dogs eating in the alley in "Lady and the Tramp," and I mean that in the best way possible.
