Living in the neighborhood, I been here more than a few times. Now, I will only walk over for breakfast. That appears to be the one meal this joint can get right. Their burgers are always dry. The samwiches are lacking, and service is usually bad. It's almost like you are distracting the servers from something more important, like being seen and being cool. The saddest part is the ideas of the interesting ingredients sounds so good in concept, and the kitchen just fails in application. It's a shame, cause the setting it nice. I love the decor, but the atmosphere is anything but neighborhood and community.

Maybe this is just my arrogant I-lived-in-Denver-for-awhile-where-we've-actually-heard-of-green-chile attitude making a fuss, but in my endless quest for good Mexican food, this place pretty much bottomed out. It was only redeemed by excellent coffee and the vegan menu. Granted, I hate most vegan food, but once you've had vegan sausage... well, I don't need to tell you the rest. All in all, not a great spot despite its emo-server surplus - but hey, you can get that anywhere in Hampden.

3.5 is probably more accurate. Great breakfast quesadilla... who knew guac and eggs go so well together?

This is one of my favorite neighborhood haunts and definitely the place we take most guests who come to visit. The food is a unique blend of Mexican/Southwestern inspired goodies (self described on the menu as "New Mexican" and a few Asian inspired noodle salads (which, by the way, are awesome!). It's also attached to a very cool bar. And whoever heard of Mexican place that specializes in breakfast?! Brilliant!

One small complaint: there's a large warning on the menu's first inside page that says in no uncertain terms that substitutions won't be tolerated... I don't even mind that that's the policy-- I'm sure it makes sense, I just always thought that a small "no substitutions please" inconspicuously placed on the menu would be a less icy way of letting your customers know the policy. I'm sure it's one of those small petty things that bothers me and only me, but there you go.

By far, one of the best places to find yourself on a Sunday morning missing a shoe. How did you get there? Or, more importantly, where did your other shoe go? It really doesn't matter! Golden West fully anticipates your post-Saturday night self and provides a great hang over cure. Their pancakes are simply amazing. They also have a medley of omelets and other brunch menu selections with a distinctive south-west feel. In addition to their culinary prowess, Golden West definitely has the cool Hampden vibe with an eclectic mixture of people and furniture. A great place to be, with or without shoes.

The food I've had there has been pretty good, from their asian noodles and salads, to their breakfast omelets. It's good, but it doesn't really excite me. I'd go back there in a pinch, but the laid back hipster vibe translating to horrible service kind of irritates me.

A hip, eclectic restaurant and bar. The brunch on saturday morning is killer -- kind of a southwestern-y brunch menu.
