The Long Bar hosts one of my favorite Sunday morning brunches in the city and can at times be found empty when there's a 30 minute wait for the front room. Drink prices are modest (well, when you consider some the brews are over $5 a bomber from the store...) and the food is very good.

The Turkey Albuquerque and salad w/ blueberry dijon are worth the trip alone. Open mic nights are entertaining, and every now and then the shows can be lively.

Biggest con? Long waits during peak times. Avoid the crowds if you can.

Has to be my favorite place in Baltimore. The folks who get down on GW probably sit in the front. The bar is where it's at. Same food. And cool bartenders.

OMG!!! So many reviews boooo the bad and mean service... Okay, we went @ Golden West Cafe on a Sunday Night, the restaurant was 50% full and we had to wait for seating @ a table... Whatever, we took $1 Bohs at the bar and we were happy to have a bartender who not bother us to know our entire life! Then, we had a table (after 15 minutes) and everything was great! We share some Wontons before enjoying tremendous burgers, among the best in the city! The luxury is when you have well cooked burgers and not burnt! We had a great dinner which ended with the homemade White Chocolate Cookies... Delicious!

Horrible service. The back bar is ok, but the wait staff and hostess staff are just plain MEAN. The food takes forever to get to your table! Don't expect to get another drink or anything from the waitress once you're seated. They seriously treat you as if you were at Dick's, but not funny, just mean-spirited.

We went to Golden West Cafe one weekday for lunch and had the worst service (we’ve been going there since they were a hole in the wall). We arrived before noon specifically because we have a 2-1/2 year old and wanted to avoid a long wait and the subsequent toddler meltdown. We were seated and our orders were taken quickly enough but we sat for more than 45 minutes waiting while other tables were getting their food (our waiter apparently forgot to enter our order into the system). He apologized repeatedly but offered no comps and would not answer a direct question as to how soon our food was coming. Finally we left before our food arrived. My son had the predicted meltdown as we were leaving. I wrote the restaurant with my complaints but very surprisingly, they did not deign to respond. Ever since they moved to the bigger place, service has been poor and the food quality has steadily gone downhill. Never going there again.

when i have a hankering for a breakfast out, i always stop here. i can't help but like a joint that serves a vegan breakfast that isn't a tofu scramble-THANK YOU golden west cafe! the servers are always friendly, helpful and quick. there are also tons of tasty vegan options on the lunch/dinner menu too. and don't forget to look up their great dinner specials - burger night and half price wine night. . . whether you're dining for breakfast lunch and dinner or meeting some friends at the bar, it's a thumbs up!

The atmosphere is great and quirky. The service is ok, but slow, and if you're annoyed by hipsters it will drive you crazy. The one main thing that keeps me coming back is the Pittsburgh steak salad. It is the most delicious overload of calories in the world. If you don't eat read meat often, this salad presents an opportunity to really relish those flavors. Not to mention it is doused in a really great dressing.

I don't think the food is very good if you like any spice to your meal. However, I LOVE the bar! The bartenders are great and great the drinks are pretty cheap! It's my favorite bar in Baltimore!

Living in the neighborhood, I been here more than a few times. Now, I will only walk over for breakfast. That appears to be the one meal this joint can get right. Their burgers are always dry. The samwiches are lacking, and service is usually bad. It's almost like you are distracting the servers from something more important, like being seen and being cool. The saddest part is the ideas of the interesting ingredients sounds so good in concept, and the kitchen just fails in application. It's a shame, cause the setting it nice. I love the decor, but the atmosphere is anything but neighborhood and community.
