Classic Baltimore. I remember Faidley's when my mother used to take me to Lexington Market in the 1960s. Inside, the market and Faidley's haven't changed much. Cold beer, fresh oysters, spicy cocktail sauce create a classic flavor of old Baltimore. The elbow bar and slanted floor (so it can be hosed down) are all part of the experience. Crab cakes, fried clams, and other sandwiches are also available and absolutely delicious.

There are several fresh seafood counters where you can buy local crab meat, a wide variety of seafood, fresh shad roe in season, and other harder to find items like frog legs. Be aware that you need cash for the fresh seafood (I am not sure why).

Unfortunately, though the market inside is much the same, the market outside is not. Many of the more unsavory people of Baltimore surround the building. I would park in the lot just south of the market and not go too late in the winter time. If you are not used to city life, especially some of its rougher elements, I would stick to Cross Street Market. But if you are a real city person, it is the only place to experience real Baltimore in the oldest indoor market in America, Lexington Market.
