Who knew savory pies could be so good!? I have an inexplicable fear of pot pies. I blame Swanson. So when I found out that Rodney's ubiquitous Dangerously Delicious Pies had opened a savory house in Hampden, I was skeptical. Then I experienced the steak, mushroom, onion, and fontinella cheese pie. Served by the pie man himself. So amazing. As Rodney likes to say, right on!
Flaky crust, tender melt-in-your-mouth steak and great flavors. Pies change often so check the blackboard for the latest savory, sweet and quiches. A slice runs around $6 and you can make a meal out of 2 slices. Also tried the pulled pork bbq and sausage quiche. Both were good but the steak was the clear standout.
Only negative was service as Rodney was pulling double duties and would sometimes disappear for a while. We saw one person storm out after sitting for a while unattended. I'm sure service will improve as they get up to speed and things did improve when a waiter showed up toward the end of our meal. Rodney was very apologetic and it's easier to excuse the slow service when I know he's in the back baking up some tasty pies for me.

I haven't tried their "Savory" Selection yet, but the sweet pies are amazing. In my experience, they appear to be exclusive,y made with fresh produce-- which translates to HUGE berries with a lovely hearty crust. Each pie is basically a meal. Do not waste these pies by throwing them in anyone's face. Even if it's...

Do not waste these pies by throwing them in anyone's face. Even if it's a really annoying clown or mime. These pies should be strictly for eating purposes only.
