In general I tend to avoid the chain restaurants, and though it's a small one, Capital Grille is a chain. They're also the exception to my rule.
Whenever I want to feel important, this is the place I go. From the moment you had your keys to the (free) valet parking attendant, the service begins.
The last time we dined at Capital Grille, my wife and I were treated to complimentary glasses of Champagne, and demi cups of the feature soup. When we asked the manager what we did to deserve this, he replied "just because."
The service has always been exceptional. Knowledgable waitstaff is always available exactly when you need them, without being intrusive, and the courses always arrive right when you want them to (no entrees coming out while you're still finishing your soup).
I'm a meat eater. I love steak. Just steak. No sauce, no fancy schmancy junk, just perfectly rare steak. Again, Capital Grille is the exception to my rule. Their Kona rubbed steak is out of this world. The coffee crust ensures that none of the juicy flavors escape from the steak, and the caramelized shallot butter melting on top adds an amazingly simple, yet elegant touch.
As much as I'm a meat eater, my wife is quite the opposite...a dreaded vegetarian, which you'd think would make her a cheap date...unfortunately for me and my wallet, my wife love lobster...big lobster. Luckily the kitchen pays just as much respect and attention to its seafood selections.
It's not cheap, but when you want to treat yourself, this is one of the best places in town to do so.

I listened to his suggestions for the fixed menu during resturant week and they were very good. I plan to go back soon. My steak was a bit more done then I would have liked,...
