I've tried their vegan chocolate muffin once, and I'm not a fan. It's flaky and dry. Kinda pricey. Friendly atmosphere.

I gots no love for Cakelove. Overpriced, overhyped and I'm so over it. I gots no love for Cakelove. Overpriced, overhyped and I'm so over it. At first, I was psyched that lil' old Baltimore had got the attention of Food Network star Warren Brown (Sugar Rush) and his DC-area pastry regime. But after a couple of disappointing visits to the Canton shop, I'll be taking my sweet tooth elsewhere.

Apparently the cakes aren't made there...they are shipped in from another store. That's probably why all cake slices and cupcakes are served cold, which means you need to wait a while before you even think about eating them. Their cake does not taste good cold...at all. So much for instant gratification.

The cake flavors are much more interesting than the cupcakes. It seems the DC prices came along with the franchise -- many 6-inch cakes will run you a whopping $40. The place is nice but small, with limited seating...not a eat there kinda place. Plus, they close at around 8pm. That's a shame because Canton could really use a late night dessert place. I had high hopes, but in a city with Vaccaros, Cupcake Company and Pitango, Cakelove falls short on the dessert scale.
