Cafe Gia is one of those hidden gems. Located off the beaten path in Little Italy, sweet renovations make this place feel like, well, Italy. Or rather what I hear Italy is like from rich people who can stomach that Euro exchange rate. But I digress. Gia's is mother and daughter owned and the daughter is usually the one playing hostess/waitress/server. Her mom makes a lot of the dishes herself like meatballs, sausage and tiramisu. I had the meatball sub and while it was tasty, I still prefer Dipasquale's.
Prices are reasonable but seem to have increased to fund all the recent renovations. Most sandwiches are around eight bucks and they also have a decent number of pasta dishes for about the same price. Definitely try the tiramisu. It was amazing...best I've had probably. All in all, this is a quaint place with good homemade Italian food. Sure beats fighting tourists at Sabatinos.
