Bertha's is a great place to get excellent, cheap mussels in a variety of different ways. There isn't much more to be said than that ... it's just plain good.

I highly recommend getting some fries along with your mussels ... it's great to dip them in whatever flavor sauce you choose to get the mussels in.

Also, in the summer, dress lightly ... it's very, very, very hot inside

I loved Bertha's before I even went there. Eons ago when I was 19 and living in CT, my friend Schleigh had an "Eat Bertha's Mussels" T-shirt that I insisted that he give to me because I loved the color. Years later I moved to Baltimore and finally realized it was a bar/restaurant. I like the atmosphere, but I also like it because of my connection with the shirt. I know, sounds shallow, but I can't help it. I've honestly not had much to eat there. I just like grabbing a beer at the bar.
