Worst decision of my life! 5:00pm on a Saturday. Place was dead. Men's room stunk so bad that I literally "tossed my cookies". When I informed the owner how bad the restroom was, he checked it out and told me, "I have seen worse." He also said, "I haven't had the chance to even go in and check it out for the cleaning from last night." Mind you, this was at 5:00 pm...Saturday!. Even prior to ordering, we requested a drink menu and was advised that the only copy they had was a book that was being used by the only other couple in the dive. So, we just ordered margaritas, which were marginal at best. After the restroom experience, I couldn't even finish my drink. So, we left and walked across the street to Ale Mary's Bar, which was so packed we couldn't even find a place to sit! Once we did get a seat, service was great...drinks were good and the restrooms were clean. Time to go and leave a great review for Ale Mary"s......

Don’t get me wrong the drinks were good but the service and staff were ridiculous. This is the first review ever written by myself because it was that terrible of a time. I urge all of you to go and see for yourself… A little word to the wise… know what you want when you walk in. (They possess no such thing as a beer menu and will roll eyes if asking for particular drinks they don’t have). It was more than apparent that we were not welcome by the bartenders. Every other person in the bar had service with a smile; toothless and all. Needless to say the 7 of us (who are local) will never be stopping by again.

Cheesy place- despite the roller derby fan fare. I went there for a fund raiser- guest bartending thing- and it was very clear to us that we were not welcome because we were not friends with every person in the bar. We went there as we are new to town & are looking for a cool crowd w similar interest. This was not it. The bar reminded me of something I'd find tucked away in a strip mall.

We were having a great time (last night) until some of the regulars came in and made it clear several times we were not welcome. Of course the bartender catered to them so we left. Too bad... thought it was going to be one of our "places we need to hit while in Fells" bars.

I'd heard good things about the place from one friend... mixed from another.

OK.... you're not going there for the food... although I had a great grilled cheese and bacon... with fries..... You're going there because they have the best selection of unique drinks in Baltimore and an incredibly engaging owner/bartender named John.... You know it's a one of a kind when you only have one drink menu to share for the whole bar.... (I offered to take it and reprint it... but nooooo that would lose some of the uniqueness!!!) You need to go here.... well worth the effort! And when they have the Bacon and Beer Happy Hour... get there early.... My hit list of favorites!

Just the name of the bar is a welcome sign to people like me, wary of the "bar scene" being too hip, and ruefully acknowledging that alcohol is the granddaddy of social lubricants, with occasional negative consequences that we just have to laugh at. Inside it's just as comfortable, with the owner being about as mellow as a guy can get ... you wouldn't think to look at him that his mind is constantly churning out new ways to flesh out his successful business plan, but as a friend of his for the past couple of years, I know this to be the case. I stop by about once a week for the cameraderie and drink adventures, from the Dark & Stormy with homemade falernum, to the latest beer on draught ... including the recent surprise of the Irish stout O'Hara's instead of the more predictable Guinness. Occasionally I order a quick dinner from the bare-bones bar menu, or ask for a shot I see a group of people doing, and am always amazed at how reasonable my tab is by the end of the night.

I tend to clear out before the more rowdy crowd really hits, but to me it's the ideal corner bar with friendly staff, a warm atmosphere, and patrons who are both old souls and young at heart. I live in walking distance of nearly every bar in Canton but I'll head all the way to Bad Decisions just for its comfortable yet quirky flavor every time.

Full Disclosure: I tend bar at Bad Decisions on Tuesday and Thursday nights. The owner and I go way back.

That being said, I think Bad Decisions is one heck of a bar. Owner John Reusing has been a liquor snob since I met him. Back in college, when other people were drinking Beast, we were going to Scotch tastings. He's always been one for experimenting with mixed drinks, and he's brought that curiosity with him to the world of bar tending. He really enjoys finding new ingredients, and figuring out new ways to combine old standards. Anybody who saw him in action at Sammy's Trattoria knows what I'm talking about.

John set out to create a bar that he'd want to hang out in. A small neighborhood establishment, where you can actually carry on a conversation with people. A place where the only dress code is "No Popped Collars" and even that's seldom enforced. A place where anybody and everybody is welcome. It turns out a lot of other people wanted to hang out in a place like that.

And of course, there are the drinks. Drink's like the S'mores Martini, Black and Bitter, and Cascade. There are too many to list here, so be sure to ask the bartender when you stop in.

So come on in for a drink or three, make some new friends, and maybe even a bad decision or two.

Oh yeah...ask them about the flaming shots. That's right, flaming shots.

I hadn't been in this spot since it was the Islander II (long story). I cannot believe the changes that have taken place.

The drink specials are great, and the staff incredibly friendly and inventive. Be sure to wear fire-retardant clothing.

Great little neighborhood bar. Really nice bartenders and owners. Fun flaming and other mixed drinks. Great place to hang out and watch some TV.

Well, the ole Islander is no more. Now people are making bad decisions after downing flaming drinks and eating glasses filled bacon. Even if you're not in the mood for beer (weirdo) you gotta go and at least try the platters of beige food. Bacon grilled cheeses, bacon and cheese nachos, and bacon and cheese fries with a side of ranch. The sociable staff taking flaming shots with you add to the experience.
