Another on a not long list of reasons why Baltimore is kinda sweet. AVAM is a great museum. If you are making a day trip to the city or are just a local chilling on the waterfront for the day, making the trek over to here is always a good idea.

Soo I'm not exactly a museum person - every year from 5th to 11th grade we'd take field trips to the same museums in dc so that pretty much ruined my experience. BUT I absolutely love the american visionary arts museum - it's one of my fav places in baltimore. It's definitely not like any other museum i've ever been...

Soo I'm not exactly a museum person - every year from 5th to 11th grade we'd take field trips to the same museums in dc so that pretty much ruined my experience. BUT I absolutely love the american visionary arts museum - it's one of my fav places in baltimore. It's definitely not like any other museum i've ever been to- it's art from untrained artists.

what does that mean? There's a lot of work in there from people with mental disorders. like someone that had ocd and made a replica of a ship from thousands of toothpicks. If you've ever heard of the postsecret blog they've got a lot of the postcards on display when you walk in. All the art has a story about the artist attached to it - and they're really interesting to read.

you have to check this place out and thursdays during the summer is the perfect time to do it! they have this event going on - flicks from the hill. from 5-9 you can get into the museum for free and then at 9 oclock they show an old movie outside on federal hill for free. it's definitely a unique way to spend a Thursday evening.
